For me it is a big surprise, today when I arrive at the jetty. Many students and estate workers were stranded by the high tide of Bernam River. The water level rise up to the security post. It is my first experience since I become the principal of 2 years here .Yesterday the tide is not that high. Tides means the rise and fall of sea level caused by combined effect of gravitational forces exerted by the moon and sun and the rotation of the earth . Most places in the ocean usually experience two high tides and two low tides each day .The times and amplitude of the tides at the coast are influenced by allignment of the sun and the moon.
So we have no choice, either drive our car through to get to the ferry,or leave it at the houses nearby.
Without shoes and pulling up our trousers and lifting sarungs, I together with 3 PMR invigilators and 1 RO walk about 15 metres to the ferry. I recall those childhood memories during the raining seasons playing happily splashing and jumping with joy. Next, sending SOS asking those living at the quaters, to fetch us at the the river bank and 5 cars came to the rescue. The students especially the PMR candidates were also told to leave their motorcycles behind. A quick action and a right decision must be made to overcome the problem. The examination must go on as schedule. I am glad because the affected students stay focus for the PMR examination
